Caring for your Himalayan Salt Lamp

Setting up your salt lamp

1) Remove the plastic packaging (if it has any).

2) Make sure you screw the bulb into the power cord, then gently insert the bulb and cord into the base of the lamp until the bulb touches the top then pull the bulb back a fraction so it is not touching the top of the inside of the Lamp (bulb must not touch the salt).

3) Place Salt Lamp on a plate (ceramic, marble or glass, or a protective mat *Salt Lamp MUST ALWAYS be on this plate/mat - to protect furniture.

4) Plug the power cord into the power source and turn it on.

It is recommended that you leave the lamp on continuously when someone is at home to get the maximum benefit from the lamp.

If you are going away for a long period of time make sure to turn your lamp OFF, remove the power cord and bulb, wrap the lamp tightly with cling wrap, a plastic bag or a towel until you return; then repeat steps 2,3 & 4.

Note: Soul Universe PTY LTD only sells Australian Safety Standard Approved’ cords. A Himalayan Salt Lamp is an electrical appliance; one has a duty of care.

Caring for your salt lamp

Due to the hygroscopic properties (absorbing moisture from the air) of the lamps, they should not be used in damp rooms or outdoors.

In tropical climates with high humidity lamps will 'cry'- they say they 'cry'
when 'not loved' (not turned on) when Salt Lamps are turned on they shouldn't
sweat/cry, but in exceptionally humid or wet weather conditions, it is strongly
recommended that you have the lamp on continuously to keep it as dry as
possible. But like all electrical appliances Do not leave on unattended.

If you think that your lamp has water dripping into the globe socket replace the cord and globe straight away, If moisture persists dry the lamp with a cloth. Do not have your Lamps sitting directly onto a wooden surface and have your lamp sitting on a plate of some sort. If you are to go away for a long period of time. Wrap your Lamp in plastic food wrap or a plastic bag.

The globes used in Himalayan Salt Lamps are Incandescent globes. They are meant to be in a stationary position, If they are moved suddenly or are exposed to vibration, they are likely to pop.

 WARNING:
Salt lamps have a tendency for the enclosure or shade to absorb moisture from the air. Saturation of the enclosure or shade may result in water accumulating at the base or near the lamp.

 WARNING:
Do not place the salt lamp in such a way any accumulated water may track along
the flexible cord to the connection of the power supply.

 WARNING:
Place the power supply sufficiently away from the base of the lamp so that it is not exposed to the accumulation of water.

WARNING: Salt lamps shall only be used with the power supply unit provided with the salt lamp.
